It also appears that the problem I am seeing is actually quite widespread with lots of Samsung owners of this model i.e. losing picture while sound works.</a> </div><div> </div><div><a href="http://www.fixya.com/support/p454757-samsung_ln_s4692d_46_in_hdtv_lcd">http://www.fixya.com/support/p454757-samsung_ln_s4692d_46_in_hdtv_lcd</a></div><div></div><div><br />The Best Buy Repair technician after changing a few internal motherboards advised that the panel itself had gone bad and cannot be repaired. Unfortunately I did not buy an extended warranty from Best Buy. I also called Samsung Executive customer relations and they refused to take ownership of the problem saying "Tough luck" you are S.O.L. without warranty. Basically, Samsung sold me a lemon.<br /><br />I am now looking at a $2800 paper weight in my living room when I look at my Samsung TV everyday.<br /><br />My advice to anyone considering Samsung is to stay away, as the company does not stand by its product even for widespread product quality issues. Stick with your trusted brands!
